Kinyara Sugar Uganda is a cornerstone of Sarrai Group’s agro-industrial network, supplying refined and brown sugar to homes, retailers, and manufacturers nationwide from its hub in Masindi. With a modern industrial white sugar refinery and bagasse-based cogeneration, Kinyara pairs dependable output with value for farmers, distributors, and industrial clients.
Industrial Sugar Refinery & Product Range
In February 2022, Kinyara commissioned East Africa’s first industrial white sugar refinery, a US$15 million plant sized for ~60,000 tonnes/year. The line converts brown sugar into consistent, food-grade industrial white sugar used by breweries, beverage producers, bakers, and confectioners—reducing Uganda’s reliance on imported industrial sugar and improving supply security for FMCG operators.
Alongside refined industrial grades, Kinyara supplies retail and wholesale brown table sugar in multiple pack sizes and supports institutional buyers through framework agreements, predictable dispatch windows, and documentation for quality and compliance.
Powering Production with Bagasse
Kinyara’s integrated energy strategy converts bagasse (sugarcane residue) into steam and electricity. The site operates a ~14.5 MW cogeneration plant and has publicly stated ambitions to expand toward 40 MW, enabling internal power and export to the national grid when available—lowering costs and stabilizing operations through the crushing season.
